Assisted Research

DuPage County Historical Museum is dedicated to preserving history for future generations.

Museum staff can assist guests with research on a limited time basis. Research requests must be submitted using our online form. To discuss your request in person, please call 630.510.4941 to schedule an appointment.


  • DuPage County Residents: First 30 minutes free, $25 for each additional research hour (no-prorating)
  • Non-County Residents: $25 per hour (no-prorating)

While providing research materials to patrons and visitors is one of the museum’s main goals, photocopying can be extremely damaging. DCHM reserves the right to refuse requests based on the condition of the materials requested. Copies will not be offered of materials dated earlier than 1900. Digital copies of archive, research library or other collection materials are not available.

Copies & Reproductions

Photos, Plat Maps, Archives, and Records

The DuPage County Historical Museum has an extensive collection, and has a limited quantity available for viewing in an online collections database.  Requests for reproductions of photos and maps may take up to three weeks to process.

Black and White Copies

Copies of books and materials in the research library are $0.10 per standard size sheet.

If staff is available and simple copy requests are received before 12:30P on a regular business day, they may be picked up at 3P the same day. If requests are made after 12:30P, copies may be picked up the following day after 12:30P. Photocopies from special collections or archives may take longer to complete.

Reproduction of Photographs in the Archive

Price is based on size, quantity and usage. For details, please contact us.


The Museum currently has reproductions of the 1862 DuPage County Map for sale in the Museum Gift Shop. If patrons are interested in large scale or exact replicas of archive maps, an outside source will need to be contacted and only then will cost be determined based on size and complexity of the map.
